Free driveway plowing

So, this weekend we stopped by our property. Our friend Mandy had been walking by with her dog last week and noticed a truck parked at the top of our driveway, on the road, but right next to ours. Seemed out of place. She listened hard for someone walking/working/whatever and didn't hear anything. She went home, called us and let us know and we all moved on. Figured, we don't have anything out there worth stealing, setting afire or anything else, so it'll be fine.
We stopped by on Saturday to find that someone had driven down our driveway though. Well, we plowed the driveway 1 time early this winter, but we had been letting the snow build up a little and were going to plow again soon. The person who decided to trespass must have thought it was a good idea to drive down it with about 6" of new snow though. They got moving and must have been sliding hard to the outside (the big drop side) and were able to get it back in control just to over correct and go off on the inside edge. Well, fortunately enough, we had saved a few trees right there at that edge. Big trees, like 18" trees. The trees caught the truck before it got totally stuck in the ditch. The trees also crushed some good portion of his truck as we found paint on the tree.

The good part is that they got to the bottom, (probably in a state of shock that they just wrecked their truck) turned around, never stepped out of the vehicle and started back up.
Well, 6 inches of snow on that driveway voids the best of 4 wheel drives and this truck got stuck. Couldn't get up the driveway a bit. We'd left a snow scoop out there for when we plow it and they must have noticed it. They grabbed the scoop and ended up shoveling the entire driveway so they could get up it.

In the end, what started off as me being very angry at trespassers has turned into a pleasant surprise of a shoveled driveway and a guarantee that they will have a hefty repair bill.

Tired Iron

Traded some stuff we had laying around for a snowmachine this week. Its old, but its fast and runs great. Lots of fun in the future with this thing.

Arctic Chickens

I was out eyeballing our chickens through the plexiglass window on their coop and thought I'd take a few photos.
